Biles won the individual all-around gymnastics final
Simone Biles narrowly claimed the gold medal in Thursday’s individual all-around gymnastics final at the Summer Olympics in Paris, an historic achievement that prompted widespread celebration and confirmed Biles‘ return to the summit of the gymnastics world.
Biles’ slim win over Brazil‘s Rebeca Andrade led Team USA men’s basketball star Stephen Curry to lavish praise on America’s GOATed artistic gymnast, who has won gold twice at these Olympic Games and is now the nation’s most decorated gymnast.

Speaking to the Associated Press on Thursday, Curry offered heartfelt congratulations to Biles and bronze medallist Suni Lee, who won the all-around final at the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021.
“They are ridiculous to watch,” Curry said of the “clutch” Biles and Lee. “To see that athleticism, it’s insane.”
Curry and Biles share stories of adversity and overcoming tremendous odds — as well as pressure — to reach the pinnacle of their respective sports. Biles withdrew from the Tokyo Olympics after a bout of “the twisties,” which caused her to lose the ability to control her body while airborne — Lee won the gold in her place. Curry battled ankle injuries early in his career with the Golden State Warriors that threatened to sap his ability as a player — but he overcame those injuries to lead Golden State to four NBA championships between 2015 and 2022, and two regular-season MVP awards for himself.
Biles even had to overcome adversity on Thursday, when she struggled on the uneven bars and found herself looking up at Andrade in third place. But she recovered on the balance beam and achieved a total point haul of 59.131 — just ahead of Andrade, who scored 57.932 to claim the silver medal.
