MANILA – Capital1 ended the preliminaries of the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference on a high note.

The quarters-bound Solar Spikers kept Galeries winless, 25-13, 26-28, 25-22, 25-21, on Tuesday at FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

Captain Jorelle Singh was proud to see her squad step up in their breakthrough run in the import-laden tourney.

“Sobrang proud po ako sa team namin kasi nagtulong-tulong talaga kami. ‘Yung locals nag-step up lahat. Sobrang nakaka-proud po,” she said during the postgame interview.

Middle blocker Des Clemente earned Player of the Game honors after putting up 14 points on 11 attacks and three blocks, but it was scoring queen Marina Tushova who led the Capital1 offense with a game-high 35 markers.

For Clemente, this was her way of bouncing back from a lackluster outing in their last match.

“Last game kasi medyo ‘di ganun ka okay ‘yung performance ko, so gusto kong bumawi simula next game hanggang sa mga susunod pa namin na games,” she said.

Despite absorbing a setback in the second frame, Capital1 bounced back in the next two to close out the match, which lasted two hours and 11 minutes.

Rookie Jewel Encarnacion fired a conference-best 19 points, while Tushova’s counterpart Sutadta Chuewulim had 22 points for the Highrisers in the loss.
