MANILA  — Creamline veteran and former beauty queen Michele Gumabao is ready to enter the entertainment scene.

Having been exposed to different industries, Gumabao wants to take a new path as she explores showbiz with her new talent manager, Joel Roslin, who also handles the careers of Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola.

“Sabi nga ng manager ko, ‘yung tatay ko, ‘yung mga kapatid ko, nasa showbiz,” said Gumabao in an intimate media conference. “Gusto ko rin ito ma-experience [for] myself, and tingnan natin what’s in store for me dito.”

“Pero ‘di ko pa tuluyan na iiwan ang volleyball,” she assured.

Gumabao, who was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Globe in 2018, has won eight Premier Volleyball League (PVL) championships with the Cool Smashers since joining them, also in 2018. During her collegiate years, she won three straight UAAP titles with the De La Salle Lady Spikers and was a two-time Best Blocker, as well as the Finals MVP in Season 75.

But showbiz is not new to Gumabao as well, having been part of the celebrity edition of “Pinoy Big Brother: All In.”

“Hindi naman siguro goodbye sa volleyball. Noong nakaraan na sumali ako sa PBB, kaka-umpisa pa lang din ng professional volleyball. Since kaka-umpisa ko lang din, I think na kung saan ako nag-umpisa, ‘yun ang kailangan ko i-prioritize,” said Gumabao.

“I want to see kung gaano kalayo ang mararating ng volleyball. Right now, I’ve been playing in the professional league for ten years,” she added.

Gumabao has also been a host, having served as an analyst for ABS-CBN Sports+Action during the NCAA volleyball tournament in 2016.

Now, she wants to unlock and fulfill other dreams as she ventures into acting.

“Gusto ko siya ma-try. Wala pa akong experience with acting,” said Gumabao. “Pero ‘yung hosting, in the past two years, I’ve been hosting for both TV and for events, so ‘yun po talaga ‘yung comfortable ako as of now.”

“Pero in terms of acting, gusto ko po siya matutunan at ma-experience rin,” she added.

Gumabao has received support from her family members who are already in the industry as she takes on this new path.

“I’m sure sa family naman namin, kahit na anong mangyari, very supportive kami sa isa’t isa. I’ve seen show business give Marco opportunities since he was in high school nag-umpisa siya and sana kung papalarin magawa rin natin ‘yun,” she said.
