Angel Reese has made it known multiple times over that she’s proud of her roots.

Reese was born and raised in Randallstown, Maryland, which is about a 30 minute drive from Baltimore.

Reese also played her first two NCAA basketball seasons at the University of Maryland before transferring to LSU.

There was also some speculation that Reese would be drafted by the Washington Mystics in the 2024 WNBA Draft, who is the closest WNBA team to Reese’s hometown.

Although Reese was ultimately selected by the Chicago Sky; who are playing the Mystics on Thursday.

Therefore, this is a homecoming of sorts for Reese.

And she is celebrating the occasion with new shoes — and a new nickname.

When speaking with media on Thursday, Reese showed off the shoes she was wearing, and said, “We’ve been doing so many kinds of different looks. We’ve done like a Barbie kind of thing.

“These are Baltimore Barbie shoes,” Reese continued. “I wanted something for home.”

Therefore it seems that, at least on Thursday night, Reese will be going by the “Baltimore Barbie” while she’s back close to home.
