Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon uses profanity to describe Angel Reese

WNBA rookie Angel Reese is starting to make a big impact on her Chicago Sky teammates and coaches.

Reese, who won a national title while playing for Kim Mulkey and the LSU Tigers, was the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Chicago Sky. She’s already in the process of becoming a household name in Chicago thanks to her on- and off-court popularity.

What fans might not know about Reese is how hard of a worker she is. That’s exactly the trait Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon used to describe the rookie in a media session on Wednesday.

“When it comes to basketball, she’s a worker,” Weatherspoon said. “She doesn’t settle. She’s hungry. She knows who she’s playing against on a nightly basis. She desires the challenge and that’s the difference when you want to be great.”

This shouldn’t come as a surprise. Angel Reese won a national title at LSU. She’s clearly a hard-working individual.

What’s been especially impressive early on in Reese’s WNBA career is her ability to handle both her off-court publicity with her on-court responsibilities. For example, she just attended the 2024 Met Gala the other day. A day later she helped the Sky crush the New York Liberty in a preseason bout.

Weatherspoon continues to be impressed with Reese’s maturity.

Reese and the Sky begin the WNBA season on May 15 vs. the Dallas Wings.
