MANILA – Creamline has secured the top seed in Pool A of the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference and extended its winning streak to four.

This, as the All-Filipino champions shackled Nxled in straight sets, 25-18, 25-18, 25-20, on Thursday at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The triumvirate of import Erica Staunton (13 points) and locals Bernadeth Pons (13 points, 14 excellent digs, and eight excellent receptions) and Michele Gumabao (12 points) led the Cool Smashers’ efforts in the one-hour, 39-minute volleyball clinic.

For Gumabao and Creamline coach Sherwin Meneses, getting better each game is their focal point after moving on from conference-opener loss against PLDT.

“Ang key naman diyan is mag-improve kami every game, every training so ‘yung mga lapses namin nung game one is talagang medyo kino-correct talaga namin. Hopefully mag-improve pa kami hanggang dulo. ‘Yun siguro ‘yung sa pagkatalo namin, maraming lapses,” Meneses said.

“Kahit naman sino’ng ipasok even from our bench, like ‘yung pinakita kanina ng iba naming teammates is kailangan ready lang talaga kami. So keep on improving lang kami each and every game. Tinatiyaga naman talaga namin, uumpisahan namin sa practice,” Gumabao asserted.

Creamline got away with the triumph in Pasig after a 5-0 run late in the final canto from a 20-all deadlock — started by a Jaila Marie Atienza service error and concluded by a Gumabao block point.

No Nxled player tallied twin-digit scoring, with Jho Maraguinot pacing the conquered side with only nine points.

Staunton’s counterpart Meegan Hart was held to only seven points.
