PARIS, France — Stephen Curry put Team USA on his back over the final two games — draining 17 3-pointers in the semifinals and finals to help the Americans capture gold yet again.
But the internet is wondering right now, why is this Curry’s first Olympics with Team USA? The future NBA Hall of Famer has had such a prolific professional career with the Golden State Warriors.
First, in 2016, Curry opted out of the Olympics after several injuries to his ankle and knee sidelined him for a period of time. The injury caused him to miss four games of the 2016 NBA Playoffs, impacting his ability in a seven-game NBA Finals.
Next time, in 2021, Curry opted out to focus on the upcoming NBA season amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
Now, at age 36 and in his first Olympics, Curry has captured his first Olympics medal by winning gold with Team USA in its 98-87 victory over France on Saturday night in Paris.
