PBA: Jerrick Ahanmisi earns nod of Magnolia vet Paul Lee after breakout game
Slowly but surely, Jerrick Ahanmisi is earning his stripes with Magnolia.

That was none more evident in his stellar outing in Magnolia’s 105-93 rebound win over Converge in the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup on Friday, Aug. 23.

While the veterans came through in the homestretch to save the team from the jaws of defeat, Ahanmisi, the No. 10 overall pick by Magnolia four years ago, provided the early offense and finished with 14 points.

Ahanmisi also had back-to-back four-pointers in the opening period for 3-for-4 overall from 27-feet.

“It was good. I’m just glad my teammates trusted me, my coaches trusted me to be able to have the confidence to take those kind of shots,” Ahanmisi said after the match at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Magnolia teammate Paul Lee, who also had an impressive night that earned him Player of the Game honors, lauded Ahanmisi.

Lee said it was simply the young gunner’s hard work paying off.
