Meralco survives Magnolia’s last-second four-point attempt to win PBA Govs’ Cup opener

Meralco almost fell prey to the four-point shot but Lady Luck smiled in its favor after escaping Magnolia, 99-94, in a thrilling PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup opener on Sunday night at the SMART Araneta Coliseum,

The Bolts saw their counterparts go straight for the 27-footer instead of tying the game up with the Hotshots trailing, 97-94, when Glenn Robinson III fired from afar. But he couldn’t find the target as Chris Newsome contested his shot.

Allen Durham quickly hauled down the miss, and went on to ice the game by calmly sinking both of his charities with 1.6 seconds left to play.
