GINEBRA BAGONG STARTING FIVE SA EXIBITITON GAME VS NEW TAIPEI KINGS

Brgy. Ginebra is geared up to put their skills to the test against the reigning P.League+ champions, the New Taipei Kings, in an exciting exhibition match set to take place in Macau on Wednesday.

Coach Tim Cone has officially confirmed the epic showdown between the two Kings at the prestigious Tap Seac Multi-Sport Pavilion, aptly named the ‘Macau International Basketball Challenge.’

This match will mark the debut for the team’s new acquisitions, Stephen Holt and Isaac Go, who were acquired in a significant off-season trade from Terrafirma in exchange for the veteran duo of Christian Standhardinger and Stanley Pringle.

Additionally, this exhibition game will serve as the first opportunity for highly-touted No. 3 draft pick, RJ Abarrientos, to showcase his skills in a Ginebra uniform after being part of the trade with the Dyip in exchange for the no. 10 overall pick.

Abarrientos, the nephew of PBA legend Johnny Abarrientos, has already begun training with the team since arriving from Taipei, where he recently competed for the Strong Group Athletics team that emerged victorious in the 2024 Jones Cup.

However, it is unfortunate that the Kings will be facing their P.League+ counterparts with a depleted roster, as key players such as Scottie Thompson, Jeremiah Gray, Jamie Malonzo, and import Justin Brownlee will not be able to participate in the exhibition match.

The absence of the 36-year-old Brownlee can be attributed to his current involvement in the Indonesia Basketball League (IBL) finals, where his team Pelita Jaya is battling Satria Muda for the championship title. Interestingly, Brownlee’s teammate at Pelita Jaya is none other than former PBA import KJ McDaniels.

On the other hand, the New Taipei Kings boast a formidable lineup featuring former NBA player Jeremy Lin and his brother Joseph, along with imports Chris Johnson and Austin Daye, naturalized player Quincy Davis, and Chinese Taipei national player Yang Chin-min.

While Cone didn’t specify the lineup for the P.League+ side, it remains to be seen if Jeremy Lin and the two imports will be taking the court for what promises to be an electrifying match-up between these two powerhouse teams.
