Tim Cone promises to pay this Basketball Star a huge of Money to become part of Gilas coaching staff
MANILA, Philippines — Tim Cone has high hopes that former PBA Best Import and current Far Eastern University men’s basketball coach Sean Chambers could become a regular fixture of the Gilas Pilipinas coaching staff.
Chambers became a last-minute addition of Cone during Gilas’ recent stint in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Riga, Latvia.
“Sean Chambers was truly God-sent,” said Cone. “We asked him literally at the last moment to join us. He just came. He got this huge FEU program he’s so excited about, and we tore him away from FEU, talked to his bosses and get their agreement. Thankfully, they said yes as well.”
“Sean came over and impacted the team right away.”

Cone, who recruited Chambers to the PBA as Alaska’s import, developed a strong friendship with the American.
Their partnership produced six league championships, including the 1996 PBA Grand Slam, with Chambers subsequently being named the Governors’ Cup Best Import.
“He’s one of the best human beings, so genuine, so likable, so fun to be around. He had that immediate impression among the players,” he said. “He has a way of talking to you. He’s just a special guy.”
“He’s just so invaluable to let go. We just have to work out the details about it (Chambers’ joining the coaching staff in the future) and work it out with FEU as well.
There are just some things we have to iron out,” shared Cone.
“Sean’s gonna be hopefully a fixture of the program.”
