Volleyball fans have criticized the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) for not penalizing Petro Gazz Angels player Marian Buitre, who reportedly made an offensive gesture by flashing her two middle fingers on live television.
According to a post on the TP Sports TV Facebook page, fans believe that the PVL should take action against Buitre, similar to how the PBA handled a similar incident involving Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots player Calvin Abueva.
Buitre allegedly made the gesture during the Angels’ contentious loss to the Creamline Cool Smashers in the PVL 1st All-Filipino Conference single round-robin semifinals last Thursday.
“Sa PBA pinagpenalty si Abueva. I just wonder what will Premier Volleyball League do about this. This happened during the controversial call and wasted challenge of petro gazz,” according to a post by TP Sports TV.
The post has sparked a flurry of comments from netizens:
“Instant sikat ka teh! Be responsible and practice sportsmanship 👍”
“Bastos yan parusahan yan parang walang pinag aralan.”
“The management of the PVL must take action in.”
“Huwag tularan ng kabataan…lalo ng mga teens..should practice sportsmanship.”
