Bernadette Pons fires career-best 25 points to lift Creamline past Chery Tiggo

MANILA, Philippines — The Creamline Cool Smashers captured back-to-back wins after handing the Chery Tiggo Crossovers their first heartbreak, 25-20, 26-24, 25-16, 25-19, in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024 Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Tuesday, July 30.

Bernadette Pons exploded 25 points all on attacks, along with 23 excellent receptions to record her new career-high in the PVL.

Erica Staunton backed up Pons with her 21-point outing, while Michele Gumabao added 17.

Creamline overcame a second-set blip after dominating the third set with a 25-16 finish.

In the fourth frame, the Cool Smashers asserted its dominance early and held an 11-3 cushion capped by Bea De Leon’s quick.

Chery Tiggo put up a fight and trimmed Creamline’s lead down the frame after Khat Bell’s loaded crosscourt swing, 20-17.

But despite the retaliation of the Crossovers, Pons scored back-to-back points to widen the gap once more, 22-18.
