MANILA (UPDATED) – Petro Gazz has set up a playoff battle with Creamline in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference after sweeping Chery Tiggo at FilOil EcoOil Center in San Juan City.

The Angels made quick work of their Thursday rivals, 25-20, 25-16, 25-12, to extend their winning streak to four before the playoffs commence.

The triumph made them secure the number 6 seed, also their fifth win in eight games to conclude the elimination round.

“Today, everyone did a good, best performance. I hope to continue this pace in the next game,” Japanese coach Koji Tsuzurabara said.

Cuban import Wilma Salas and Fil-American Brooke Van Sickle were there to lead the offense with 21 and 12 points, respectively.

They dominated the spiking aspect and notched a total of 44, compared to the Kungfu Reyes-coached squad’s only 24.

Salas’ counterpart Khat Bell registered eight markers in the loss, while Mylene Paat had the same number of output.

The Petro Gazz-Creamline matchup is primed to be a high-octane bout, slated on Tuesday, August 27.

The Crossovers, meanwhile, will be facing the PLDT High Speed Hitters at the same game date. Winner advances to the next round while the loser goes home.
