With the entire opening round of preliminaries tipped to be triple-headers, all matches had fixed start times of 2 p.m., 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

But from Week 2 onwards beginning Jul. 23, the official start times will be marked at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m.

Opening day became an eight-hour marathon, as the conference-opening five-setter between Nxled and Galeries went underway at 2:23 p.m., while the final match of the triple-header featured another five-set battle between Creamline and PLDT ending at 11:10 p.m.

Import and jersey-related concerns reportedly prompted the Nxled-Galeries Tower match’s delayed start.

Because of this, Match 2 between Chery Tiggo and Farm Fresh began two hours late at 6:01 p.m., followed by first serve at 8:30 p.m. for the Creamline-PLDT game.

In total, on-court action for day one of the 2024 Reinforced Conference lasted eight hours and 47 minutes.

Although extended matches and intermittent video challenges are among causal factors behind prolonged match times, the PVL made apt scheduling adjustments that will take effect for at least the entirety of the first round of pool play.
