Kyle Negrito’s brilliant play secures Grand Slam, Finals MVP honors

Kyle Negrito claimed the Finals MVP award after orchestrating Creamline’s hard-fought 21-25, 25-17, 20-25, 26-24, 15-13 victory over Cignal, securing the first-ever grand slam in Premier Volleyball League history. The thrilling final took place on Thursday evening at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Far Eastern University standout delivered 25 excellent sets in a game that saw the Cool Smashers battle back from a 1-2 set deficit.

Negrito became the third setter to win the prestigious award, following in the footsteps of Jia De Guzman and Kyoka Oshima.

“Papasalamat ako sa Rebisco family sa walang sawang suporta na binigay,” Negrito said emotionally during the post-game interview.

“Salamat din Coach She (Meneses). Bati na tayo, champion na tayo e,” she added with a smile, referring to the emotional rollercoaster the team had gone through.

This latest award adds to Negrito’s already impressive résumé, which includes two Best Setter honors.

Despite her personal achievements, the Bacoor, Cavite native was quick to share the credit with her teammates.

“Sa mga teammates ko, mahal na mahal ko kayo,” the 27-year-old said.

“Everything I am is because of you guys. Maraming salamat sa tiwala na binibigay niyo,” Negrito concluded, expressing her deep gratitude for their trust and support.
