The Creamline Cool Smashers are just a win away from reaching the PVL Finals once more after a dominant Game 1 win against the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, 25-18, 27-25, 25-22, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The Cool Smashers managed to weather the hot start of Eya Laure as they pulled away in the middle of the first set and never looked back.

Come the second set, the Crossovers would show more fight against Creamline, even going just a point away from taking the set.

However, the Cool Smashers yet again showed their composure to tie the game at 24-all, before sealing it with two consecutive points.

Creamline would then go on to build a slim lead in the third set which they would keep to seal the victory.

Jema Galanza led the way for the Cool Smashers with 17 points built on 16 attacks and one block.

When asked about the close second-set win, Galanza pointed it back to her teammates who gave her the energy to continue fighting.

“’Pag ganung mga part na ng game, tinitingnan ko lang mga teammates kung gaano ka-eager sila manalo. Sino ba naman ako para sumuko? Siyempre ilalaban talaga at ayun naman ‘yung goal namin na manalo this game,” Galanza said during the post-game interview.

Despite the dominant win, the 27-year-old outside hitter pointed out some things that the team needs to work on to ensure another victory come Game 2.

“More pa siyempre,” said Galanza.

“Mabawasan pa siyempre ‘yung mga errors kasi mas importanteng mas onti siya lalo papasok ng finals.”

Creamline will now look to seal their 10th finals appearance in the PVL come Game 2 which will be on Saturday, 6:00 p.m., still at the PhilSports Arena.
