MANILA (UPDATED) – Capital1 import Marina Tushova is the real deal.

More than a week after resetting the Premier Volleyball League scoring record, Tushova has broken that once more to help the Solar Spikers complete a reverse sweep against Nxled, 20-25, 20-25, 25-16, 25-19, 15-6, on Saturday at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The Russian spiker dropped 49 points on 46 attacks, two aces and a block to become the only Solar Spiker in twin-digit territory to go along with 14 excellent receptions. She previously set the league record at 45 points against Choco Mucho last week.

Majority of that scoring output came in the first four sets as she entered the rubber frame with already 40 points.

Tushova proceeded to register the remaining nine—more than half of Capital1’s 15-point output—in the final canto.

But for the stellar import, it was all business despite nursing a minor right wrist injury.

“I don’t know, I just play you know? I just enjoy playing with my team. About this game, thanks to my coach, he saw me, he listened to me, and he gave me a lot before last game and this game,” she told reporters during the postgame press conference.

Tushova did not forget to bring into the conversation her teammates and asserted that the triumph was due to all-around teamwork.

“I did a good job, we did a good job together, and today I felt like I’m on my game,” Tushova said.

She also had more than 50 percent attacking efficiency on that match.

“I didn’t feel like I’m somewhere else. I’m just attacking and cannot score, yes sometimes, but I was more comfortable on the court and more confident. I couldn’t move my hand yesterday but today it’s okay,” added Tushova.

Iris Tolenada and Julia Ipac were next on the Capital1 scoring list, contributing seven-piece each.

The Solar Spikers (4-2) are now a win away from securing a slot to the next round.

Meanwhile, Jho Maraguinot paced the defeated side with 19 points and 15 excellent receptions. In contrast, Tushova’s equivalent in Nxled Meegan Hart only tallied 13 markers.

The Chameleons dropped to a 1-5 win-loss card after the Saturday bout.
