On Thursday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan, the Flying Titans defeated Galeries 27-29, 25-20, 25-19, 17-25, and 15-12 thanks to a total of 22 blocks, including seven from rookie Lorraine Pecaña and opposite spiker Kat Tolentino.

“There are some things we haven’t improved yet, but I told my players, what we will really rely on is our blocking,” said coach Dante Alinsunurin during the postgame press conference.

“Whatever we need to improve, I’m sorry, and I’m very thankful that my players trusted me with my system in blocks.”

After losing to Petro Gazz last Saturday, the Flying Titans also had comeback victory.

Tolentino, who is overcoming an auditory ailment, led the squad in scoring with 27 points and contributed to the defence with 10 outstanding digs.

Mars Alba led the attack, recording 20 outstanding sets, while former MVP Sisi Rondina contributed 19 attack pointsand eight outstanding receptions.

A Des Cheng serve ace and a Pecaña block point gave the final All-Filipino runners-up a three-point, 13-10 lead in the final.

Rondina used her trademark piercing attack to give her team match point, but Ysa Jimenez maintained Galeries’ hopes with a kill, 13-11.

Juju Coronel responded with a 14–12 onslaught, but the game, which lasted nearly three hours, was ultimately ended by another Rondina kill.

Despite being led by Jimenez and Jewel Encarnacion, the Highrisers lost 0–2.
