PBA Roundup: Ginebra Edges Rain or Shine, Phoenix Falls to San Miguel

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) saw a mix of upsets and close contests on Friday night.
In the first game, the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters surprisingly fell to the San Miguel Beermen. Despite leading for much of the first half, Phoenix couldn’t maintain their momentum and ultimately succumbed to San Miguel’s late-game surge.
In the second game, the Barangay Ginebra Kings edged out the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in a thrilling finish. The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading baskets throughout. In the end, Ginebra was able to pull away in the final minutes to secure the victory.
Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao admitted that his team simply wasn’t at the same level as Ginebra. “They’re a better team,” Guiao said after the game. “They played better tonight.”
