Justin Brownlee led Barangay Ginebra San Miguel to a 122-105 victory over San Miguel Beermen in Game 1 of their PBA semifinal series. Brownlee scored 33 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out five assists in the game. He also made five of six four-point shots, setting a new career record.

After the game, Brownlee said that he and his teammates were not feeling sorry for the Beermen, who were coming off a grueling Game 5 series against Converge. “We’re not here to feel sorry for them,” Brownlee said. “We’re here to take advantage of every little thing we can.”

Brownlee also praised his teammates, saying that they played a great game. “We played a great team game,” Brownlee said. “Everyone contributed.”

Ginebra head coach Tim Cone was also pleased with his team’s performance. “We played a great game,” Cone said. “We executed our game plan.”

San Miguel head coach Leo Austria said that his team was tired after playing so many games in a short period of time. “We’re tired,” Austria said. “We played a lot of games.”

Austria also said that his team needs to play better defense. “We need to play better defense,” Austria said. “We gave up too many easy baskets.”

Game 2 of the Ginebra-San Miguel series is on Friday, October 11 at 7:30 PM at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
