Bernadette Pons is a Filipino athlete who specializes in volleyball. She was born on October 1, 1994, and is currently a member of the Creamline Cool Smashers, a team that competes in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL). Pons is known for her exceptional skills, dedication, and love for the game.

Pons hails from Talisay, Negros Occidental, a province in the Visayas region of the Philippines. She is the eldest of three children and grew up in a family that supported her athletic aspirations. Despite her busy schedule as an athlete, Pons also focused on her education and graduated with a degree in BS Financial Management from Far Eastern University.

Pons’ volleyball journey began in her high school years at Raphael B. Laxon National High School, where she first showcased her skills in the sport. She also participated in regional competitions such as the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA), which helped her develop her abilities and gain recognition in the world of competitive volleyball at a young age.

Her collegiate career played a significant role in shaping her success in volleyball. She represented Far Eastern University (FEU) in both indoor and beach volleyball, earning a reputation as a versatile athlete due to her proficiency in both formats of the game. While at FEU, she contributed to the team’s success in various UAAP seasons and also achieved individual accolades, including silver medals in beach volleyball tournaments.

One of the most notable moments in Pons’ career was during the UAAP Season 82, where she led the FEU Lady Tamaraws to their first finals appearance since UAAP Season 75 as team captain. Although they fell short in the finals, her leadership and strong performance throughout the season were widely recognized.

After her successful collegiate stint, Pons transitioned to professional volleyball and joined the Petron Triac Spikers in the Philippine Superliga (PSL). She played as an outside hitter, a position that showcased her attacking prowess and overall skills. In 2016, she was recognized as the second-best outside spiker in the PSL All-Filipino Conference.

Her journey with Petron continued, where she became a vital part of the Petron Blaze Spikers and received numerous awards both as a team and individually. In 2017, she won the championship in the Beach Challenge Cup with Cherry Rondina, demonstrating her continued dominance in beach volleyball. She also helped Petron achieve success in various tournaments, including a silver medal in the PSL Invitational Cup and a gold medal in the All-Filipino Conference.

In recent years, Bernadette Pons has joined the Creamline Cool Smashers, one of the most successful and popular teams in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL). Under her contribution, the team has achieved major victories. In 2023, Pons helped the Creamline Cool Smashers finish as runners-up in the PVL Invitational Conference. Following this, they won the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference, solidifying their dominance in Philippine volleyball. In 2024, the Creamline Cool Smashers won the PVL All-Filipino Conference championship, and Pons’ contributions were instrumental in the team’s success, earning her the Conference Most Valuable Player and Finals Most Valuable Player awards.

As Bernadette Pons continues to play at a high level, her legacy as one of the greatest and most versatile volleyball players in the Philippines is firmly established. Her contributions to both indoor and beach volleyball have left a lasting mark on the sport, and she continues to inspire a new generation of athletes who look up to her as a role model.
