We have seen this story a lot of times, and Barangay Ginebra facing off the San Miguel Beermen has always been watched by a lot of PBA fans. However, it is also quite noticeable how critics keep on saying that this is a rigged matchup whenever it happens.

Thankfully, we can thank the Meralco Bolts for saving the PBA.

Since their first meeting in 2001 PBA All-Filipino Cup, there have been a total of five Finals appearances between Barangay Ginebra and the San Miguel Beermen, which says a lot about those massive showdowns on the big stage. Still, there have been a lot of talks as to how every finals involving any of these two teams to be fixed just to ensure a massive fan viewing in the Final.

Of course, the story was different. Barangay Ginebra was defeated by the Meralco Bolts in the semis, and then the San Miguel Beermen were ousted in a game-winner by Chris Newsome. Thankfully, we have avoided a scripted event, and that definitely saved the PBA from having yet another rigged finals stage that many fans would not want to see in the long run.
