Stephen Curry became an Olympic gold medalist for the first time in his career this summer, and he’s letting the world know about it.
The future Hall of Famer changed his Instagram bio by replacing the part where he says he is a guard for the Golden State Warriors with the words “Olympic gold medalist.”
Before any speculation begins, Curry is signed with the Warriors for two more seasons. He has also said on multiple occasions he wants to remain with the only NBA team he has ever known throughout his career.
One of those times came just before the Olympics in July during an interview with Andscape’s Marc J. Spears when he was asked if he would “fine playing with just anyone” as he potentially finishes his career with Golden State.
“It’s tough, right? I’ve always said I want to be a Warrior for life,” Curry said. “At this stage in my career, I feel like that’s possible. And you can still be a competitive, it doesn’t mean you guaranteed the championship. It doesn’t mean winning. Winning is always a priority, but obviously you’re realistic. It doesn’t mean that it’s going to happen if you stay the course. You need to shake things up and keep reimagining what it looks like to evolve with what league is at right now, with where some of these talented teams are now.
“I’m taking it one step at a time to be honest. I think that’s the only way that will protect my happiness. Also, it allows me to enjoy being myself when I’m out there playing. And I’ll continue to make the decisions that are best for me and for my career at the end of the day when it comes to just the imagination.
“I want to win. Let’s put it this way, it’s a longwinded way of saying that it if it is a situation where you’re a bottom feeder and it’s just because you want to stay there, I’d have a hard time with that. But I don’t think that’s going to be the reality.”
It’s fairly clear Curry wants to remain with the Warriors the rest of his career, but he also doesn’t want to be stuck near the bottom of the standings while doing so.
And the four-time champion is also fresh off his first-ever Olympics experience and adjusted his Instagram account accordingly.
He was far from a passenger on that gold-medal winning team, as his three-point barrage in the final minutes against France proved to be the difference in the championship game.
It was the final missing piece in one of the best resumes in basketball history, and part of his ensuing celebration is apparently updating social media.
