Compared to the Tokyo Olympics, things are different in Paris. Players are no more restricted to a bubble or their rooms, and players had been making full use of that freedom. The Olympic rookie, Stephen Curry, and his team USA teammates had been spotted at Simone Biles‘ gymnastic event.
After cruising past South Sudan in the group stage of the Olympics, team USA stars will be watching Simone Biles and Suni Lee contending for their second gold medal of the Olympics 2024. Moreover, Curry was seen wearing glasses at the event, which is not something everybody might be familiar with. Well, the reason for him wearing the glasses was his cornea-related condition, called Keratoconus. While playing, he wears contact lenses that are specially designed to combat this eye condition.
Due to this, the Chef struggles with blurred vision and has trouble seeing things clearly, but that did not stop him from turning up to Simone Biles’ gymnastic event. The guard showed his support for his fellow American Olympian, who was competing in the event of the Paris Olympics 2024.
Curry, along with his Team USA teammates, stepping out to support their fellow Olympians sheds light on the camaraderie that US Olympians share among themselves.
Everyone expected Curry to rain down shots, especially from beyond the arc, when he made it to team USA’s Olympic roster, but the chef has been struggling to make shots. In his first ever Olympic game against Serbia, Curry logged in 11 points, sinking three of them from downtown, and that was pretty much it. If it was not for Lebron James and Kevin Durant, the game would have been up for grabs for Serbia.
Coming to the baby-faced assassins’ second game in the Olympics, against South Sudan, his shooting went downhill. He only had 3 points in the 21 minutes he played. In addition to that, he went 0-6 from three point range. It seems like the star is going through a slump, but remains unfazed. “You’re always annoyed, for sure, you always want to make shots, but you can’t let that rob you of all that other stuff that you do to help win a game,” he told Lindsay Schnell. Even though he had four assists in the game, that’s does not scream Curry potential.
To Curry’s defense, he is not playing the same role with team USA that he plays with Golden State. There, the whole team is dependent on Curry, but that’s not the case here. “It’s interesting dynamic with this team because first half I only had four [attempts] and like three of them came in a minute-and-a-half stretch, so you’ve got to be ready for your shots,” Curry told Schnell.
There’s still time for Curry to get adjusted to the team USA’s dynamics in this Olympics. Will we be able to see the Chef cook like he does with the Warriors? Comment your thought on this!
