From the outset, the game promised to be a thrilling encounter. In the first quarter, both teams exchanged baskets, but it was TNT that gained momentum around the 8-minute mark, thanks to five straight points from a young TNT player. This early surge gave them an 8-point lead, setting the tone for the rest of the game. Despite a commendable effort from Robert Bolick of NLEX, who hit a tough shot against the defense, TNT maintained control, ending the first quarter with a 10-point lead at 35-25.
The second quarter saw TNT’s offense continue to heat up, starting with a 10-1 run. NLEX struggled to score, only managing their first field goal at the 8-minute mark, courtesy of Bolick. However, TNT quickly countered with Hollis-Jefferson taking over the offense, often scoring against NLEX’s rookie Policarpio. By halftime, TNT had widened their lead to a commanding 20 points, with a score of 66-46.
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson opened the third quarter with aggressive attacks in the paint, further extending TNT’s lead. Despite NLEX’s efforts to rally, particularly through Bolick and Jones, the gap proved insurmountable. Hollis-Jefferson’s intensity, even leading to a technical foul due to his frustrations with the referees, demonstrated his fiery commitment to the game.
In the end, TNT Tropang Giga emerged victorious, advancing to the semifinals with an impressive performance. Despite a valiant effort from Bolick and the NLEX team, they couldn’t keep up with TNT’s relentless pace and superior shooting. This win solidifies TNT’s status as a formidable contender in the semifinals, and fans are eager to see how they will perform in the next stage of the competition.
