Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry is not just a basketball legend; he’s now making waves in the entertainment industry with his latest venture, the new show “Mr. Throwback.” Set to premiere on August 8th on Peacock, the show is the brainchild of Curry’s production company, Unanimous Media, which he co-founded with Eric Payton. This move marks a significant step in Curry’s career as he continues to explore opportunities beyond the basketball court.

Curry, who recently led Team USA to a gold medal and secured a contract extension with the Warriors through 2027, is excited about this new chapter. “We’ve been on this venture for almost six years now,” Curry shared. “Unanimous Media is all about family, friends, and sports, putting content together in a lot of ways. Acting was a cool experience for me, and the show turned out great. I’m super proud of it for sure.”

The production of “Mr. Throwback” took place during a rare off-season for Curry, as the Warriors missed the playoffs. Filming locations included Chicago and the Bay Area, and the team worked swiftly to ensure the show was ready for its summer debut. Despite the tight schedule, Curry balanced his commitment to the show with his preparation for the Olympics, where he later helped secure a victory against Serbia.

Eric Payton emphasized the importance of authenticity in their content. “It’s about connecting authentically with the audience and the people we’re doing the show with,” Payton explained. “We’ve had some successes, and we’re extremely excited for the future. Unanimous Media was born from a bit of volatility in the market, so we’re built for it.”

Curry also touched on how his friendship with fellow NBA star LeBron James has influenced his approach to media ventures. Both athletes have successfully leveraged their basketball platforms to expand into the world of entertainment. Curry sees this as a strategic move to set up his post-basketball career. “Being in a space where this is setting up post-career for us to be able to continue to stay in the space, whether it’s broadcasting or going deeper into shows like ‘Mr. Throwback,’ I’m excited about it all,” Curry said.

Looking ahead, Curry is keen to get everything he can out of basketball, but he’s already laying the groundwork for his future endeavors. His vision extends beyond just TV and film; it includes podcasting, publishing, and using media to bring families together and inspire the next generation. “I’m excited that I’ve had the opportunity to do it now so that I can go even deeper once basketball is done,” Curry concluded.

As he continues to shine both on and off the court, Steph Curry’s journey into the world of entertainment is just beginning, and “Mr. Throwback” is a testament to his growing influence in the industry.
