Simone Biles has done it again. If (a big if at that) there was ever a doubt about her GOAT status, her 6th Olympic Gold medal, her 31st overall, seals the deal that Simone Biles is the greatest ever. To witness her majestic win, stars crashed at the Bercy Arena in Paris. Devin Booker and his USA teammates were in attendance as they captured the winning moment on their recording devices, soaking in the piece of Olympic history. LeBron James, the king, the arguable GOAT even put his stamp of approval on Simone Biles’ greatness.
NBA world reacts to Simone Biles’ Olympic win
To commemorate the occasion, LeBron shared a post on his Instagram story. The 4-time NBA champion left a GOAT emoji on it to convey his short but powerful message. “Since 1976, every women’s Olympic All-Around champion has been under the age of 20. Simone Biles is 27 years old,” the original post highlighted this mindblowing stat, drawing a parallel between Biles and LeBron as they continue to defy age.
Following Biles’ gold conquest, Devin Booker also took to social media to share the winning footage with his 5.5 million followers. In his Instagram story, one can see Simone Biles and Suni Lee waving the star-spangled flag with pride after securing the gold medal. He added the USA flag, a gold medal and a bronze medal to the story indicating the gold win for Biles and bronze for Suni. Booker a devoted vlogger made the most of his day off, recording moments from the event in his camcorder. Those who were miles away also joined in the celebrations.
Magic Johnson glued himself to the TV screen, despite being on vacation. The Lakers legend shared his congratulatory message to Simone Biles as soon as the all-around event ended. “Me, Cookie, and everyone on the yacht were cheering on the USA women gymnasts in today’s All-Around final! The GOAT of gymnastics has done it again! Congratulations to Simone Biles for an electrifying floor performance and adding another Olympic gold medal to her collection today’s All-Around final!”, the NBA legend wrote on his X account.
Magic went a step further to celebrate the win by posting a video of him and Simone Biles from 2016. The 5-time NBA champion revealed the story of his meeting with the Olympian and wrote, “It’s truly amazing that in 2017, I sat with Simone and her parents in the gym they own in Houston discussing her first Olympic all-around gold medal in Rio (2016), and she’s just won again today in 2024! I’m looking forward to seeing how the most decorated olympic gymnast continues to create history in the individual events this week.”
Kevin Durant also chimed in, rather hilariously and posted, “I really believe Goat Biles can catch a lob and finish.” Durant before the start of the event also revealed how he can improve himself by taking a page out of Biles’ notebook.
Another former Lakers legend, Pau Gasol also reacted to the win. “SIMONE BILES! (USA flag, gold medal emoji) againnnnnn,” Gasol wrote on his X account. Gasol is in Paris just like the NBA stars. The two-time NBA champion also attended meetings with Paris Olympics delegations due to his role as the president of the Gasol Foundation, and a member of the International Olympic Committee’s Athletes’ Commission.
Simone Biles made herself a part of multiple Olympics history tonight. Biles became the first woman to win two Olympic All-Around Titles since Vera Caslavska in 1964 and 1968. She also broke a 120-year-old record to become the only US gymnast to win six Olympic gold medals. With her greatness, wrapped up, Team USAB will only hope they can take the golden inspiration and channel it in their own quest for Gold.
