During a post-game interview, Sangalang expressed his side of the story, stating, “It was absolutely not intentional. His hand hit mine, and my hand was pushed up accidentally. I didn’t even realize the extent of the contact with his eye.” Sangalang, who has been in the PBA for over a decade, emphasized his clean record and reiterated that the play was a result of normal game contact and not a deliberate act of aggression.

Magnolia’s coach, Chito Victolero, also came to Sangalang’s defense, highlighting his player’s professionalism and integrity on the court. “Ian has always played a clean game. This isolated incident should not tarnish his long-standing reputation,” stated Victolero. He also shared his pre-game motivational talk that spurred the team to a significant 129-100 victory against Rain or Shine, underscoring the team’s focus and determination.

On another note, Justin Brownlee, a stalwart of Barangay Ginebra, shared his thoughts on his competitor Alen Durham, who currently plays for Meralco. Brownlee acknowledged Durham’s prowess and potential to win the championship but expressed his hope that it wouldn’t be against Ginebra. “Alen is a nightmare for any team; he’s that good. But I hope his championship run does not come at our expense,” Brownlee commented.

Brownlee’s respect for Durham is well-noted, and his desire to avoid a direct championship face-off speaks volumes about the level of competition between the two. Durham, for his part, has been a consistent force in the league, often leading his team to crucial wins and proving to be a formidable opponent.

The rivalry between Brownlee and Durham is anticipated to continue, promising basketball fans more thrilling encounters. As the PBA season progresses, all eyes will be on these two players, not just for their potential showdowns but also for their significant impact on their teams and the league.
