Sydel Curry, the sister of the Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry, penned an emotional tribute to Team USA’s Women’s Gymnastics team on social media. Sydel shared a post by Bleacher Report—featuring the team led by Simone Biles—on her Instagram story, and wrote about the emotions she felt while watching the team win in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“The amount of times I have cried watching this. The Olympics hit different when you’re a parent and they show the proud parents in the stands,” Sydel wrote in her story.

It was an emotional moment for American fans as they watched Biles clinch her fifth gold medal in the Olympics. Biles led her gymnastics team to victory while dealing with a calf injury, and has now officially solidified her position as the most decorated gymnast in American history.
With eight medals won throughout her entire Olympic career (from 2016-2024), Biles surpassed Shannon Miller (7) for most medals won by a gymnast in the sporting event. She has also tied with Anton Heida (5) for the most gold medals won by an American gymnast.
Steph Curry’s sister sends shoutout to her brother before Olympics
Aside from supporting the gymnastics team, Sydel has another reason to tune in to this year’s Olympics—her brother Steph is competing for the first time in his career. Despite the superstardom that he has enjoyed in the NBA, Steph never had the experience of playing in front of an Olympic crowd.
Speaking with a reporter at the opening ceremony, the 4x NBA Champion said that he was humbled by the Olympics’ grandiose.
“It’s a wild experience, for sure. I’ve watched this plenty of times. …To be here and experience it for myself, I’m a true fan out here, no matter what you experience in your career, it’s something very humbling… I’m excited to be here,” Steph said.
Sydel posted a video of the interview on her Instagram story and captioned it with:
“Pretty cool, pretty cool @stephencurry30”
