Alyssa Valdez knows BaliPure will come out better
BACARRA, ILOCOS NORTE — Creamline rewrote the Premier Volleyball League history books after a jaw-dropping second set against BaliPure on Wednesday night.
The Cool Smashers had an exceptional showing in the frame, converting hit after hit before eventually holding the Water Defenders to a league-worst three-point output.
And Alyssa Valdez was in the midst of the offensive barrage, putting up 16 points built on 10 attacks, four aces, and two blocks in Creamline’s 25-12, 25-3, 25-15 sweep of the once streaking BaliPure.
“Ako kasi ata yung nagse-serve that time so one thing na sinasabi sa akin ni coach (Sherwin Meneses) is kailangan kong mag target and ipasok kasi Jema [Galanza] and Jia [Morado] naman can make plays in front and puwede ring mag backrow,” said Valdez.
“So yun talaga yung priority namin kasi kailangan naming may strategy din talaga na ganun kasi malakas din talaga yung opensa nila. We’re ready kahit ano ring gawin nung kalaban and we really can’t count them out talaga every time. Yung focus talaga namin in today’s game siguro more than a hundred-percent.”
Besides Creamline and Choco Mucho, BaliPure was actually the talk of the town in the past week.
During the past week, the Water Defenders scored huge victories over powerhouse Chery Tiggo and Cignal. It definitely made them a team to watch out for.
But despite the tough loss, Valdez bared that the league-worst output will not define what BaliPure has done in the Open Conference.
“Well, as a team naman we’re really blessed and happy and siguro we’re just really thankful na ganun yung kinalabasan. But I think we can’t really define any team by the score,” said the seven-time V-League MVP, who played for BaliPure back in 2016.
“Babalik at babalik yung BaliPure for sure.”
For their part, Valdez hopes that this could be a huge confidence booster for the Cool Smashers as they now set their sights against Jaja Santiago and the Crossovers on Friday.
“So sa amin naman, it’s going to be a confidence booster for us for the next few games.”
