PBA Governors’ Cup quarterfinals: SMB and Converge play a thrilling series, Ginebra tries to sign free agent Troy Rosario

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governors’ Cup quarterfinals have been full of drama and excitement. In the first game of the series, San Miguel Beermen (SMB) defeated Converge FiberXers 101-99. However, Converge bounced back in Game 2, winning 106-100. The series then went to a do-or-die fifth game, which SMB won 101-99 in a controversial finish.

In Game 3, SMB was leading 100-99 with 0.3 seconds left on the clock. Converge’s Alec Stockton then took a buzzer-beating shot that was initially ruled as a good basket. However, after a review, the officials overturned the call, giving SMB the win.

Converge showed resilience in Game 4, defeating SMB 102-96 to force a fifth game. In the deciding game, SMB once again came out on top, winning 101-99.

Meanwhile, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel (Ginebra) is actively trying to sign free agent Troy Rosario. However, they are facing competition from other teams, including Talk ‘N Text and Blackwater. Talk ‘N Text has already met with Rosario and expressed their interest in signing him. Ginebra is aware of this and is also working on their offer to Rosario.

It remains to be seen whether Ginebra will be able to sign Rosario. If they do, it will be a big boost to their chances of winning the Governors’ Cup. However, even if they don’t, they still have a strong team and will be a tough challenge for any opponent.

The Governors’ Cup quarterfinals have been one of the most exciting parts of the PBA season so far. The games have been high-scoring and full of drama. The outcome of the series has also had a major impact on the title race.

The PBA Governors’ Cup finals will begin on October 14. The winner of the finals will be crowned the PBA champions.
