Alyssa Valdez, Diana Carlos uncertain for Creamline in PVL playoffs

The Creamline Cool Smashers are uncertain if Alyssa Valdez and Diana Carlos will be available for the knockout quarterfinals of the PVL Reinforced Conference.

Head coach Sherwin Meneses has not yet received an update from the medical team on their health status.

“Hopefully makabalik sila. Pero hindi ko kasi masagot kasi ‘yung medical team namin, wala pang advise,” Meneses said. “Pero ready naman kami kung hindi sila makabalik, or makabalik sila.”

Both Valdez and Carlos have yet to play this conference due to various injuries, while Jessica Galanza is also out due to her Alas Pilipinas commitment.

The Cool Smashers have locked the No. 3 seed in the quarterfinals after a 25-17, 25-15, 25-22 sweep over the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles on Thursday at the FilOil EcoOil Center in San Juan City.

Import Erica Staunton delivered 17 points on 15 attacks and two blocks, while Bernadeth Pons chipped in 11 attack points and 12 excellent digs as the Cool Smashers concluded the elims with a 6-2 record.

“Siyempre happy kami na nanalo kami ngayon papasok na kami sa quarterfinals. Wait lang kami kung sino ‘yung makakalaban namin. Pag-aaralan namin mabuti,” said Meneses.

Asaka Tamaru tallied 16 markers on 15 spikes and a block as the Thunderbelles ended their campaign with a 0-8 win-loss slate.
