FRESH off her graduation from the University of Georgia, young Erica Staunton decided to take her talents across the world to play for Creamline, easily the most popular volleyball squad in the entire Philippines.

While she’s already felt the love from the die-hard supporters of the Cool Smashers, her experience was taken to the next level as she took part in her first rivalry match with their sister team in the equally popular Choco Mucho Flying Titans.

Playing inside the Mall of Asia Arena for the first time, the 24-year-old dazzled in front of the 9,429 fans in attendance as she led the Cool Smashers to a rousing 25-16, 25-19, 31-29 sweep over their rivals.

A talent like her has certainly been in a lot of great volleyball atmospheres, but there’s nothing quite like a Creamline – Choco Mucho match.

“That was hands down, the most fun volleyball environment I’ve ever been a part of. I knew coming into it that there were gonna be a lot of fans, a lot of eyes watching.

Staunton finished with 19 points in the sweep, 17 of which coming from attacks, to continue her brilliant performance for the season.

With Staunton leading the way with a 19.9 points per game average, Creamline remains one of the best teams in the tournament with a 5-2 slate even despite the absence of several key cogs like Tots Carlos and Alyssa Valdez.

For the former Georgia Bulldog, she’s just making every moment count – grateful to play in front of such appreciative Philippine volleyball crowd.

“I kind of just wanted to focus on enjoying it because you never know if I’m ever gonna play in a crowd like that again. Just really enjoying the moment.”
